BARBERSHOP QUARTET SINGS "IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK LIKE CHRISTMAS” IN A LOS ANGELES SNOWSTORM
DECEMBER 2025
Watch Meredith Willson's classic "It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas" come alive outside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. In celebration of the song turning 74 years old, #TheAccidentals barbershop quartet harmonized through a beautiful Los Angeles snowstorm.
The event was especially meaningful because it brought together Meredith's holiday standard with his love of barbershop quartets, which feature prominently in his Broadway show "The Music Man."
The barbershop ties run deep — in fact, some say that Walt Disney made The Dapper Dans barbershop quartet a Disney Parks mainstay because of his close friendship with Meredith. A Spectrum News reporter interviewed members of The Dapper Dans about working with Meredith at the opening of Disney World in 1971:
“On that opening day, several conductors helped coordinate that first parade, including Meredith Wilson, the Tony-winning composer of 'The Music Man.'
So, we walked over to him and said, ‘Hi, Meredith, we’re the Dapper Dans, the resident barbershop quartet on Main Street.’ And then one of us said, ‘Meredith, do you know ‘Lida Rose?’ And he said, ‘I think I can work my way through it.’”
This video captures some of Meredith's legendary sense of humor!
